How much does it cost to be tested?

Prostate Screen Australia believes that all men should have access to Prostate Cancer testing. As a result, out of pocket costs for appointments range from only $30 to $50 depending on the appointment type. Pathology tests ordered by our Doctors are bulk billed by Medicare subject to Medicare rules.

What if my test results are abnormal?

Prostate Screen Australia has developed stringent evidence based guidelines for testing, follow up and review. Our doctors review your age, family history, co-morbidities, physical examination, prostate specific antigen (PSA), PSA velocity, PSA isoforms and MRI findings (where appropriate). In conjunction with Prostate Screen Australia’s prostate cancer risk calculator our Doctors will determine individual follow up. If your results are abnormal or you have an increased risk of prostate cancer, the doctor may order further tests or alternatively suggest you speak with a Urologist (Prostate Cancer Specialist).

When should I be tested again?

If your results are ‘normal’ taking into account your age, family history, co-morbidities, physical examination, prostate specific antigen (PSA), PSA velocity, PSA isoforms our Doctors will suggest you be reviewed at Prostate Screen Australia in either 1 or 5 years.
